Kathleen Foran joined CNIH in July 2013 as Practicum Coordinator and we are very pleased to announce that she has accepted the position of Program Director. Kathleen has over twenty years of experience in the field of Sonography in a variety of roles that have demonstrated expert patient care and support for the development of sonographers and sonography students. Her passion is education. Kathleen was an Adjunct Professor of Sonography at George Washington University, in Washington, DC; the Program Coordinator for the Ottawa Valley Medical Sonographers’ (OVMS) continuing education program; and provided student and sonographer mentoring at Merivale Medical Imaging, the Ottawa Hospital, the Kingston General Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital.

She has gained national recognition as the Executive Director for both the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) and the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) as well as Product Specialist with Siemens Ultrasound. As the Executive Director of CSDMS/CARDUP, she oversaw the development and implementation of Canadian, national sonography exams as well as prepared the profession for provincial regulation.

Kathleen comes to CNIH with a Bachelor’s of Science degree, Diplomas in Radiography and Sonography, and dual certification (Canadian and American) in general, vascular, and cardiac sonography.

We would like to take time to thank our first Program Director, Marcia Docherty, who brought her extensive educational and management experience in diagnostic imaging and continuing medical education to CNIH from Calgary, AB. Marcia is moving into the role of Director, Professional Education with a mandate to develop a continuing professional development portfolio in ultrasound.
